Hello, friends!

While I’m taking a break from weekly emails, I’ve been quite busy behind the scenes! Today, I’d like to share some news: I’m starting a monthly snail mail newsletter.

I learned a lot from Snail Mail Summer earlier this year. For three months, I designed and printed a bunch of goodies and mailed them to 19 of you. I tried everything from stickers and sticker sheets to art prints, custom washi tape, and printed vellum paper. It was a blast, and I came away with a few ideas:

  • Keep it simple

  • Focus on storytelling

  • Go all-in on snail mail

Wishful Working Post is a monthly print newsletter about slowing down and opting out of toxic hustle culture. It’s not so different from what you’ve found in your inbox as an email subscriber.

The first edition is a personal story — the story of meeting a Canadian farmer, falling in love, and moving from Des Moines, Iowa, to Saskatchewan, Canada. Today marks exactly 5 years since I boarded a one-way flight to Saskatchewan with my brand new husband and two suitcases.

It’s kind of a wild story, and I’m so excited to share it with you.

I’m not committing to one format. This month, I’m sending a zine, but next month might be a letter, brochure, newspaper, or some other creative format. I’ll sometimes include extras, like stickers and bookmarks. Sign up by November 20th to receive this zine.

I’m still figuring out a new format and cadence for the email newsletter, so stay tuned. I will also be adding more items to my online store in the coming months, including notepads, stickers, and art prints.

If you’re thinking “Whoa, whoa, I signed up for freelance advice and now she’s trying to sell me things,” I understand completely, and I invite you to unsubscribe. If you want to come along as I make my dreams come true, stick around ♥️

I appreciate you,

Kara
